Every November, Movember is behind the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UAE and around the world.
The aim of this facial feature growth is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically male mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Whether bushy, handle-barred, or carefully sculpted, more men than ever sport moustaches in November as part of a global men’s health campaign.
“The Big C” highlights the fragility of life and underlines the importance of health to you, friends, and family. The fact that one man commits suicide every minute of every day is even more shocking.
By taking part in Movember, you can extend the hand of solidarity and show unity with those who have struggled, and also encourage men to shed their stoic macho images and talk openly about their health. Here are a few things you can do to raise awareness, and if you are “Mo”ved enough, to even take initiative and raise funds for this cause.
Grow a Mo:
The simplest way to participate is let your facial furniture do the talking! Grow your moustache and let it be the talking point to have a conversation about Movember and men’s health. Cliched as it may sound, but if your growing moustache and talking about it could help just one person think about their health, it is totally worth the effort. The simplest way to show solidarity and support the cause is to let your facial hair grow and shine in the winter sun!
Rally up your mates:
As if on cue, a small boost to make it to the finish line of 2020 has popped up an opportunity. With the possibility of a 3- or 5-day weekend starting December 1 as the next UAE public holiday, there are plenty of meaningful, yet fun activities that you can do. You can do something fun, and easy, virtual or in person. Hosting a get together is all about having a good time for a good cause. So, go ahead and Host a Mo-ment!
Mo your own way
You can also plan an outdoor fun activity or go solo on a hiking, biking or a road trip. Whether testing your physical endurance by sweating it out or a not-so-sweaty pledge by kicking a bad habit, take whatever Mo your own way means to you, and go ahead with it round the year!
Movember is a community of rockstars. They are working for raising money for making a difference in mental health, suicide prevention and prostate and testicular cancers.
